So, what is there to do in Glencoe in winter? Of course, there's going for a walk amidst the Glencoe peaks, but we know that its not everyone's cup of tea. Here's 10 quick suggestions as to how to use your time, without necessarily breaking a sweat!

  1. Enjoy the peace.

  2. Take a low level walk – try the Lost Valley.

  3. Walk round the Glencoe Hospital Lochan and pop into Crafts & Things for a coffee and a cake. Or walk round the old slate quarry and Brecklett forest and get your cake fix from the Ballachulish Visitor Centre.

  4. Book a taster session at the Ice Factor and try your hand at ice climbing.

  5. Visit the Ben Nevis Distillery and sample the ‘Dew of the Ben’.

  6. Curl up in front of a real fire with a dram and a good book.

  7. Head for the snowline with a trip up the Nevis Range gondola or Glencoe Mountain chair lift.

  8. Bring a bike and ride on the new Sustrans path down to the Holly Tree Hotel. Stop for lunch and take a swim in their pool.

  9. Visit the National Trust for Scotland visitor centre, visit the exhibition and take a walk through the forest to the viewpoints before returning to the café for a well earned coffee and a cake!

  10. Relax!
